THE ED1 TOTE — ECRU

Built from scratch. Waxed by hand. Made for every day.

The ED1 is our take on the proper everyday tote.

And when we say our take, we mean it. This isn't a blank bag we've bought in and dressed up with a bit of leather. We make the ED1 from scratch in our workshop, starting with heavyweight cotton canvas straight from the roll.

The canvas is cut, constructed and then given our own treatment using workshop-made DuzJam Wax, adding protection, structure and that slightly battered waxed finish that will only get better with use.

Then comes the leather.

We use heavyweight Italian leather hide throughout, including the oversized front pocket, smaller rear pocket and leather reinforcement running along the canvas handles. Solid brass hardware finishes the lot.

The handle construction is one of our favourite bits. The original heavyweight canvas runs underneath the leather, giving you the strength and structure of canvas with the feel, finish and ageing characteristics of proper leather.

And ageing is very much part of the plan.

The ecru canvas will crease, mark and pick up the story of wherever you take it. The wax will move and change. The leather will soften, darken and develop a patina of its own.

It's not designed to stay looking new. It's designed to end up looking better than new.

The oversized front leather pocket gives you somewhere to chuck the things you don't want disappearing into the bottom of the bag, while a smaller leather pocket on the reverse gives you another easy-access option.

At 30 litres, there's plenty of room without the ED1 turning into luggage.

A NOTE ON THE FINISH

The ED1 is made using natural materials and finished by hand.

Variations in the leather, wax coverage, canvas texture, creasing and markings aren't faults — they're part of what makes each bag its own. As the waxed canvas and leather wear together, your ED1 will gradually become completely individual to you.

We don't want these kept pristine.
